Problem
Statement
There are many BVI people in the rural areas
of Nepal who are neglected, isolated and remain
idle, due to social negative perception towards
them, lack of opportunity and skill.
Moreover, formal based education system does
not compensate for skilled working hands at
the practical level.
Vision

By the end of 2010, SIS will be a leading organization
in rehabilitating BVI People in Nepal.
Mission
::.
Providing conducive environment to the BVI people
by imparting necessary orientation and mobility
skills along with transferring technical know-how
on practicing on-farm agroforestry, skills on
suitable local crafts tandem with local market
needs and thereby establish them as competent
members of the society.
Objectives
::.
- To protect and promote the rights, interests
and welfare of the BVI people.
- To improve the mobility and social interactions
skills of the BVI people in order to build-up
self- confidence.
- By practicing on-farm agroforestry, BVI
people and their sighted family member will
reduce over dependency on forest
for the fodder and fuel-wood by promoting
it on their own farm land (vacant
terrace risers and walls).
- To provide conducive environment in order
to enhance skills of BVI people in local
craft techniques for self-employment
of the BVI people.
- To meet the basic needs of the BVI people
by transferring improves appropriate locally
marketable craft skills so as
to improve their living standards.
- To create necessary platform to further
sustain transferred skills and further for
its maximum utilization through
forming their own organization at local
level.
